Last time we checked the Asymmetrics site logs we noticed persistent traffic from old tools and utilities we released. This is going for a couple of months now and despite the 404 errors and 301 redirection attempts we have in place, there are bots that sill insist of accessing these old pages. We altered the SEO-G Renegade edition recently so it is now the primary handler of all these requests and responds always with a page found. The aim of this approach is to bounce back to wherever these bots are originating from and propagate to an invalid response with a valid header 200 OK. The response will be analogous to these invalid requests. For regular visitors accessing our pages this new handling method should be completely transparent. SEO-G deploys a proximity redirect algorithm where even if a product or service is removed the module will redirect to the closest match, in other words to a similar product. You can find more about the SEO-G Renegade edition in our services and blog pages. We're slowly moving forward with the development of the II-Metrics layer an object oriented e-commerce engine. We will make certain announcements in the future about the progress and release a roadmap of the objective for our new framework. New services like the forms bot and anti-bot verification system are also available for integration with e-commerce stores. The forms bot consists of validation scripts that can ensure the forms of an e-shop function properly. The anti-bot verification system is a web-integration service that voids automated forms submission. It can detect whether or not a human completes a form without adding extra elements to the forms. The simple approach uses plain HTML and no captchas or jscripts to accomplish this. We also did futher enhancements to the I-Metrics layer for the session handling. A couple of fixes were applied for the handshaking with payment gateways. we created a new version for the junction tracker to enhance its goal recording abilities. We are planning to provide an import mechanism for the script in order to analyse web traffic directly from the server logs. That is in addition to the recording facility that exists via the e-commerce pages. Importing the server log implies global analysis for every file of the store not just the php scripts. |
