The Product Group Fields e-commerce module targets multiple products which share the same set of product options that can be complex in terms of selection, type and number of associated attribute values.
Group Fields streamlines the required user selection of product options and presents a different page or table of options which are configurable in terms of HTML selection type, option costs, options stock, images and layout placement. Once visitors select the necessary group fields, the product base and the selected set of fields are added to the shopping cart with a single click.
Typical applications of Product Group Fields include custom designs of merchandise, with different layouts. The user may add to the shopping cart the entire set of product options represented by a set of group fields.
The module consists of 3 different levels of configuration.
At the topmost level the group fields itself, is described with a name, short description, catalog presentation layout, an order for the group, along with an operation status switch to activate or disable the field.
The second level of group fields covers the group options, each group is associated with. It includes an option name, an HTML selection type and element for how the options should be listed on the catalog end, option price, option stock and option image control switches, layout control, options ordering and option activation switch.
The third and final level of the group fields, consists of option values associated with each group option. Therefore the name and optional stock, price and image details can be configured separately from the administrator panel.
The end result is that for items where they share a common set of product attributes can be fully covered with a single entry of grouped options. Certain commercial products can be easily integrated with your store where a specific form is required with detailed elements.
For instance, a merchant may require a standard prescription where customers to fill-in an order before adding a product to the shopping cart. The group fields is attached as an additional products page, where the customer first selects the product with its associated options and the second page allows him to input the group fields information. Eyeglasses prescriptions is a good example where this e-commerce module is applied.
Used on its own or in conjunction with the multilevel extra fields, this add-on can greatly enhance the product fields and option selections with minimum user interaction. |
