Internap Spam

As you all know spam reporting, cleanup, processing and filtering can be a time consuming process and nobody is going to compensate your time and efforts. In our case we have some filtering mechanism in place to monitor and report spam. But what are the so called legitimate companies behind this?

Here we have Internap. internap.com is a company who supposed to do online marketing where in fact is a host for notorious spammers. The incidents are not something worth reporting, but we have noticed strange events happening over the past year or so.

Spam reports of course go unanswered by Internap or by its clients. Then, over the past year, we posted in Wiki a complain about the incidents. Reports were removed the same day, as wikipedia is just another medium that promotes certain interests and to our view they're just a cartel. The reports we mentioned were from trusted sources but by their standards of course we are not a corporation to outweigh them.

Then we posted on complaintsboard.com a comment about internap where internap.com once again was hosting spammers. The report was by another member of the board. After a couple of hours our account was banned. To counter this, we publish our information here on this site where there is freedom of speech and these spam and scam companies will have their whereabouts known.

So what internap.com basically does is providing hosting for spammers to distribute unsolicited e-mails without opt-out methods. They have a long history with incidents described across anti-spam forums. Internap also has a long list in Spamhaus SBL advisory for incidents by their clients involving spam, scam/fraud, phishing, piracy and anything illegal that can take place over the Internet. Of course they're remain idle about these issues.

In our repository we have lots of spam emails originated by the internap.com servers. One of their prominent spam clients is telepacific.net where via the murgent.com mail server they repeatedly sent spam to us. Couple of samples follow along with mail server and IPs:

Received: from extrovert4.murgent.com (extrovert4.murgent.com [::ffff:70.42.212.21])

Received: from extrovert5.murgent.com (extrovert5.murgent.com [::ffff:70.42.212.20])

The best advice right now is to report any spam email that originates from these companies to one of the IP databases dealing with spam. spamcop.net is one of them. Blacklist their IPs and domains as unsolicited emails originate from their servers without a mechanism to opt-out. They do not respond to emails. Their so called abuse email simply deletes the complain emails.

Here is the entry we added in wikipedia about the spam emails for Internap:
Our wikipedia entry on Internap spam mails

The company raises funds by having clients who are allowed to send out spam e-mails. There are currently 28 SBL listings for IPs under the responsibility of internap.com. Several entries are from known professional spam gangs with ROKSO records. internap.com does not respond to requests to discipline its clients.

The entry was removed a couple of days from the wiki moderators as unsubstantiated claims. Once you do your research let us know which part is unsubstantiated.
