It can easily implemented on a variety of servers and with different server environments including Apache and IIS.
Using this top SEO E-Commerce manager friendly links of your choice are generated automatically, improving site navigation and search engine marketing. Newer SEO-G versions have several advantages and more features over older versions released (upto v1.20 on the osCommerce contribution section),
Features and improvements include, faster generation of URLs, external and internal proximity redirects, simpler URLs management and generation for domain transition, interaction with the META-G meta-tags generator, anchor links cache support and product feeds for the major search engines. The most recent SEO-G version also includes several bug fixes over v1.20. SEO-G was created, developed and maintained by Asymmetric Software and originally deployed for the osCommerce MS2.2 engine.
SEO-G has extensive configuration options where the various URL parameters of web pages, are scanned and processed generating spider friendly URLs for maximum efficiency in the search engine optimization arena. A complete framework for the eCommerce administration panel is available where the store owner can alter the links, modify tags for product names, manufacturers, categories, text pages, specify and customize redirection links and submit sitemaps to search engines. SEO-G features an automatic links builder where no user intervention is necessary for the the friendly links generation.
User input is optional and is implemented on various levels including page content editing, SEO control of entities of supported parameters and at the finalized URL level. Mass editing of the original and SEO URLs is also included with the module for the generated and redirection links.
A built-in SEO validation mechanism can instantly display missing products, manufacturers or categories links. Order of parameters handling can be specified for the final URL generation. Linkage among parameters can be configured from the back-end a feature that fully controls the URL structure.
Subfix/Prefix support for scripts is used to generate separate links for different scripts that handle common parameters. Internal communication with the META-G dictionaries further optimizes the SEO links generation.
With SEO-G URLs, a merchant have the option to expose a directory or plain links structure for his eCommerce pages. When a directory structure is used, the sub-categories are exposed as sub-folders. In a plain structure all entities including categories, products, manufacturers are merged into a single phrase separated by hyphens. Configurable separators can change the order and emphasis of key phrases shifting the priority of critical keywords towards the page content. Generated names are fully controlled to expose the minimum yet most meaningful keywords with the SEO link.
Sub-parameters like page identifiers and product filters for alternative categorization of products, are also supported via custom classes. The integrated redirect support, covers proximity redirects and user specific redirects and can be applied to independent links. Auto-refresh and links recreation at a specified periods is also supported via configuration switches. SEO-G also includes a duplicate content filtering mechanism for processed URLs.
The module fully supports site migration or conversion from all types or shopping carts, into osCommerce and I-Metrics Layer using an advanced redirection technique called proximity redirect, a merchant can setup a new e-commerce store with minimum loss of page ranking.
The way the proximity redirect operates is by hooking onto the 404 error handler, analyze the incoming URL, convert it and feed it back into the SEO-G core via a 301 redirect header. This is the most efficient solution for SEO, as the old links are converted automatically and search engines are notified of the page transition immediately. The proximity redirection feature is just one of the extended redirection methods SEO-G provides.
To speed up links generation and links loading, SEO-G comes with three different types of cache. An index/signature is stored with the generated links that assists the module to locate the requested URL with minimum database overhead. See the SEO-G cache methods for further details.
SEO-G also deploys a types configuration script where the classes for the individual supported database entities can be defined and ordered. The module is flexible enough so new parameters can be added, wherever SEO URLs are needed. Encoding/Decoding of these parameters can be fully automated or user driven. For a detailed explanation on this matter see the SEO-G Types.
Anchor insertion, update and removal of existing names takes place via the G-Controller, G-Reports and G-Redirects. The administrator may generate names and URLs using these scripts from the back-end. The SEO-G frequency column follows the Google specification for sitemap generation and also specifies whether or not a URL will be included with the generated maps and feeds. The SEO-G reports page includes separate controls to flush its internal cache of anchors, update links of a predefined date and notify Google of Sitemap updates. The Google Sitemap is integrated with SEO-G therefore you do not need a separate module.
Finally SEO-G interacts with the META-G module to further optimize the links of the e-shop by accessing the inclusion and exclusion META-G dictionaries. Finalized URLs can be tuned by removing certain words of low importance, based on the dictionary settings of META-G. See the META-G SEO module for further details. The SEO-G integration service is available for all versions of osCommerce with the 2.x framework. |
